Global Special Risks was formed in 1979 as a London Market Coverholder (a Managing General Agency for Lloyd’s and London Companies). Since that time, we have provided underwriting, and related services on a number of marine and energy contracts.
GSR currently employs 30 underwriting, sales, claims, computer, financial, and related service professionals located in New Orleans, Dallas, Houston and Calgary. We have made a significant investment in our staff to ensure issuance of a quality product including compliance with underwriters’ instructions regarding underwriting standards, policy issuance, claims handling, premium collection and payment, policy audits and a host of other services. GSR is focused on quality.
GSR’s underwriting staff has a broad working knowledge of both the insurance business and the marine and energy industries. Our staff has an average of over 17 years experience working with GSR, in addition to prior insurance experience in most cases, giving them a thorough understanding of the business, an ability to place varied insurance risks, and the ability to handle complex claims for our clients. GSR provides a prompt response to submissions, quality products tailored to specific needs, timely and accurate documentation, and responsive claims handling and settlement.
GSR is extremely fortunate to enjoy a special relationship with our Underwriters, which allows us to provide services on their behalf. Underwriters have given us this authority due to our many years working with them, evidencing our professional handling of complicated risks and claims issues. Once our London Underwriters agree a claim, GSR issues the payment on their behalf directly to the Assured via our retail agent. This eliminates the usual delays encountered when dealing with foreign insurance markets. GSR’s advancing of claim payments on behalf of London Underwriters is unique and one of the major benefits to the Assured of using GSR for their insurance placements.
